We are thrilled to share that two of our WIT Fund’s investee portfolio companies have recently been acquired. These founders and their teams have worked diligently for years for their collective success and will be role models for our next generation.

Beanworks + Quadient

Catherine Dahl, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Beanworks Solutions Inc.

Beanworks’ journey started a decade ago with a vision of making accounting easier and more enjoyable while increasing efficiency and reducing cost. And now, Beanworks empowers more than 800 customers, processing more than $14.2 billion a year through its AP platform.

Last month, Beanworks was acquired by Quadient for $106M CAD, one of the largest exits ever from a Vancouver-based start-up. This big move is a culmination of Beanworks’ incredible rise in the AP space, with 77% year-over-year revenue growth in 2020. Quadient will enable Beanworks to offer greater support to current and future customers alike, while also allowing them to further expand into markets around the world.

Stephanie Liverani, Co-Founder and Chief Partnership Officer, Unsplash

Nearly eight years ago, Unsplash started as a Tumblr page with a handful of images. Now, they have over two million high-quality, high-res images that have been contributed by people from all around the world. That’s over three billion image downloads!

On March 30, Unsplash announced its acquisition by Getty Images. In their most recent blog, Mikael Cho, Co-Founder & CEO of Unsplash, noted: “The reason I’m excited about this acquisition is because it’s not goodbye; it’s about acceleration.” This means they will drive additional collaborations with global brands, build an expanded creative community and extend their execution capacity.
